The Schreuders
Robyn and Tom Schreuder are looking to help daughter Karen and son-in-law Jono into their first home, but it’s going to be an adjustment. The four of them have never lived together under one roof. Robyn is formerly a hairdresser who now works in the beauty industry, which has Jono worried about where she’ll find the time to do her hair and make up during Our First Home. Tom builds for a company he owns with his twin brother, and their daughter Karen has been a nurse for the last five years, marrying husband Jono in March 2014. In his own words, Jono hits tennis balls for a living, coaching the sport and running a tennis and squash retail store. While Karen admits that she will probably want the castle, father Tom will keep her grounded.
Robyn
Robyn just wants to help Karen and Jono onto the property ladder, but admits she isn’t much of an early morning person. She feels the team’s biggest asset is Tom, and her son-in-law Jono’s biggest asset; her daughter Karen!
Tom
The brain of the operation, Tom’s got vast building experience and he’s ready to get stuck into the renovation. Admittedly conservative, he isn’t worried about much, and looks forward to the building work.
Karen
Karen’s bringing her tech-savvy skills to the renovation project, and has a secret weapon on hand to release on the competition; her dad Tom. She doesn’t like deadlines, and can’t imagine having got this far without her parents.
Jono
Jono is chomping at the bit to get some renovation experience, knowing he and wife Karen have an awesome opportunity to start their life together. He’s got the work ethic required and a thirst to learn, but if Karen thinks she gets final say, Jono reckons she’s got another thing coming.
