Carla Tonga is our family's saviour! The family who are judged as adding the most value to their property in the weekly room reveals are able to win Carla's help for a whole week.
She's a charismatic builder who has a strong passion for helping others and isn't afraid of getting stuck in to get the job done!
Over the last two years she has been working as a building apprentice for Habitat for Humanity. Carla has a genuine passion for their cause and a great appreciation for the time they've invested in her.
Everyone has different skills to add to the team regardless of their gender, but along-side the general cutting, lifting, organising and construction problem solving, a few extra skills that women bring to the building site are value and the ability to build up a healthy team environment.
Working as a labourer for most of her working life, Carla has also been a paper chase runner, factory line worker, fork lift driver and postie. Working hard is almost all she knows and is now looking for a future in building.
Carla has supervising experience, teaching with large groups of 10 - 20 volunteers at any one time - some of which have never even held a hammer before, patience and the ability to step back and give instructions to help volunteers understand is a skill in itself.
This people management will certainly come in handy when working with our three families!
