The Gourleys are a rare breed, generous and kind, always smiling and seldom flustered. Anne and Al, their daughter Amy, and her husband Matt all bring to Our First Home their fair share of positivity and heart.

Late deliveries to their property lead to Tim Tams for the contractors and tradies, and they started off with a hiss and a roar, winning three of the first four family challenges.

Yet when it comes to their renovations, the Gourleys have been accused of playing it too safe, and Matt has traded a number of words back and forth with the Our First Home experts.

They renovated a bedroom each in their first two weeks, one for a girl and one for a boy, then moved onto the master bedroom before a late delivery meant they couldn’t complete it in time for a reveal. Matt’s positive spin on it all didn’t sit well with the experts, but he believes the Gourleys are now fully prepared to charge ahead easier than they might’ve without this delay.
