With father Tom a workhorse like no other and mother Robyn the enthusiasm and excitement all teams need, their daughter Karen and her husband Jono look to be in great hands in Our First Home.

While Jono has no building experience, a great disadvantage considering the other two families possess two experienced builders each, that hasn’t stopped the Schreuders from winning two room reveals in a row and being labelled by Our First Home experts as the family to watch.

It took them a long time to find their house, but having done so, the Schreuders have rarely looked back since. Karen Jono learn more and more from Tom each day, and the entire family is pulling together despite the looming spectre of a building consent they may never get dictating play.

The Schreuders started taking their two bedroom house and aiming for three, taking one large bedroom and turning it into two, finishing one of them in the process. Then, it was onto the front yard, a sensational transformation by all accounts, before that pesky building consent meaning they had to focus on their basement and tiny house.

In the thick of it all, mother Robyn has even emerged to have a bit of a cult following!
