What made you decide to get involved in OFH?    

Matt and I daydream about renovating all the time, so the email from Fly Buys came through, I couldn’t believe my luck! OFH sounded like a dream opportunity! We only got married at the start of the year so the dream of owning a home seemed so far away.

What are you the most excited about?    

Dressing rooms and making them pretty! Bringing the rooms to life and giving them some character.

What are you most nervous about?    

The unexpected. I love to do lists and lots of planning. I even like to plan to be spontaneous. So having to go with the flow and have crazy challenges pop up seems very daunting. Also as the most unexperienced renovator on the team, I feel quite a bit of responsibility to not let the family down – not that they would hold it against me!

What is the best thing about your teammates?    

The very best thing about my team is they are my family. I can’t think of anybody who I would want to do this with more. Mum and Dad have so much experience with renovations on their own home and others, so I am really relying on their insight and their endless encouragement. Matt makes everything fun so he will remind me to love the moment.

What is the most annoying thing about your teammates?    

They are family – both the greatest asset and the most annoying! They always challenge me to push myself in ways I wouldn’t – and are not afraid to tell me when I need to work harder or take a deep breath – so there will be no slacking off!

Who in your family do you think is going to find this challenge the hardest and why?    

Probably me! I have the least experience so I will definitely have the biggest learning curve. I always tend to get stressed very easily so the high pressure environment is daunting.
 

Do you have any DIY nightmare memories from your childhood?  

No nightmares, but growing up with a builder for a father meant our house is always changing and being developed – it is never finished. 

Every parent makes sacrifices for their children, what’s one yours have made for you?    

Mum and dad have always put family first, so have made huge sacrifices to all get us three kids through great schools etc. But the sacrifices they are making for this show are pretty huge. They are putting their very busy lives on hold to do this with us.

Which task(s) of the renovation do you think you will excel in?    

The planning! I love looking on pinterest and getting inspiration on how I can create amazing spaces – I love the creative side of things.

Which task(s) of the renovation are you most worried about?    

All the manual labour! It will be very different from sitting at a desk studying like I am used to.

What is the defining quality that you bring to the renovation?   

I help keep the whole family organised and on task.
