What made you decide to get involved in OFH?

Karen and myself have wanted to get into our own place for a long time and this is such a great opportunity for us to get our very own home and start our life together.

What are you the most excited about?

Excited about the opportunity to learn how to renovate a house and hopefully get the chance to get our own home.

What are you most nervous about?

The fact that I don’t have much DIY experience so I will be learning as we go.

What is the best thing about your teammates?

We are a family. Tom has so much building knowledge that I can learn from. Robyn is very enthusiastic and they are both so keen to help us.

What is the most annoying thing about your teammates?

There is nothing annoying about us smile

Who in your family do you think is going to find this challenge the hardest and why?

Probably my mother-in-law. Might not have the time to do her hair and make up.

What was your first impression of your parents-in-law?

Very friendly and Tom wasn’t one of those scary dads. Just a loving family.

What are Robyn and Tom's biggest assets?

The wealth of knowledge they have with renovating houses.

What do your friends/workmates think of getting into this challenge?

My friends are excited for me, they keep giving me grief, but they are a good bunch.

What is the most ambitious piece of DIY you have ever done?

I haven’t done a lot, just helped Dad out. We did a massive retaining wall for a driveway. Now that was a big job!

Describe your DIY style?

I’ll tell you in 10 weeks.

What do you think is your secret weapon in this competition?

Our teamwork and outside connections.

Do you have any DIY nightmare memories from your childhoods?

Not really. I do remember trying to cut something with a Stanley knife. I now have a sweet scar on the inside of my finger.

Every parent makes sacrifices for their children, what’s one yours have made for you?

My parents made a huge sacrifice moving country to get a better life for me and my sister. They gave up a lot, good jobs, a family home they built themselves. I am forever grateful. Just as I will be to Tom and Robyn for helping us with this massive challenge.

Which task(s) of the renovation do you think you will excel in?

I just can’t wait to learn. Being the only male with no building experience… I’m ready to learn fast!

Which task(s) of the renovation are you most worried about?

I’m not too worried. I have a great teacher in Tom. Just excited to learn.

What is the defining quality that you bring to the renovation?

My work ethic. I have my own business that I put a lot of time and energy into. And I’m excited about bringing it to this challenge.
