The families’ secret sanctuaries

Using inspiration from the world renowned Hamilton Gardens and some expert advice and tips from Chris at Green Room Projects the families went about creating a secret sanctuary in their own homes.

The Roughan's hammock haven

The kids left the parents in charge while they scrambled to get their guest bedroom ready for the judges. Pat and Lyn put in some hard yards paving their sanctuary and creted a unique relaxing space which includes a hammock complete with little ledges to pop your cup of tea on and some charming hanging candle holders.

The Pearce's beachy pad

Atareta and Tawera were inspired during their trip to the garden centre but struggled to gain momentum in the execution of their beach style sanctuary. Luckily with a bit of whanau power the Pearces were able to pull off their garden and although it wasn't as private as the judges would have liked they were pleased to have got the task done.

The Wotton's Italian hideaway

The Wottons unanimously decided to leave the design and execution of their sanctuary in the green-thumbed hands of Theresa who we discovered is the founder of the Tauranga Annual Garden Festival. That decision paid off as their Italian themed garden, inspired by their excursion to Hamilton Gardens was judged best in show.
