The first auction hammer has fallen on Our First Home with the Wotton family securing a final sale price of $780,000 for their three bedroom 1960's bungalow in Henderson. Banking a profit of $99,284 this means they've added 14.59% value to their home.
The family purchased the property, which sits on 703m2 of flat land, for $580,000, the lowest purchase price of the three families in the competition.
The renovation process was nothing if not grueling and has reinforced what Bex already knew about her family,
"You can achieve anything when you set your mind to it. There were so many days when I thought we weren't going to get through things but we just did. Everyone pulled together. We've got amazing family and everyone just worked really hard together and that was so cool," she says "I think we're just lucky. We're so fortunate to have such incredible family and for New Zealand to see that has been a huge privilege."
Josh says they were overwhelmed by the support, not only from family and friends who helped during the renovation but from the general public but they won't be calling on them for help with their own first home, "I think it's now time to start giving back" he says.
Even though they are pleased with the auction results The Wottons wont know if their sale has been enough to secure them the $100,000 prize until the other homes go under the hammer.
"All the families have put an equal amount of effort into their houses and any one of them is deserving of the win. We'll be pretty happy for whoever does win, but we hope it's us," says Josh, "I think we've done the best we can I don't think we could have done anything better."
On Monday night (18th April) the Roughan's four bedroom home in Te Atatu South will be auctioned then on Tuesday night (19th April) we return to Henderson where the Pearce whanau go to auction with the final home in the competition.
